Same-Day Crowns, No Wait

With CEREC technology, there's no need to wait weeks for your new crown. Traditional methods require messy impressions, temporary restorations, and multiple visits. CEREC streamlines the process by capturing a digital scan of your tooth and creating a permanent crown right in our office—often in under two hours. You leave with a fully restored tooth the same day.

How CEREC Works

CEREC combines digital imaging, 3D design, and milling technology in one seamless system. After scanning your tooth with a special camera, we design your custom restoration using precise computer software. A ceramic block is then milled into a perfectly shaped crown or onlay while you relax in the chair. The result is a high-quality, custom fit made just for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about same day CEREC crowns at our downtown New Haven office.

What is CEREC and how is it different from a regular crown?

CEREC uses a digital scan and an in office milling unit to design and make a porcelain crown while you wait. A traditional crown means an impression, a temporary, and a second visit two or three weeks later. With CEREC the whole thing happens in one appointment.

How long does a same day CEREC crown appointment take?

Plan on roughly an hour and a half to two hours. That covers preparing the tooth, taking the digital scan, milling the porcelain, and bonding the finished crown in place. You leave with a permanent restoration rather than a temporary, which is why many patients book it on a single day off.

How much does a CEREC crown cost in New Haven?

The fee depends on the tooth, how much structure is left, and your dental coverage. Our office takes HUSKY Health, Medicaid, and most major PPO dental plans, with CareCredit if you need to spread payments out. We put an itemized written estimate in your hands before we start.

How long do CEREC crowns last?

With brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, a CEREC crown commonly lasts ten to fifteen years or longer. The ceramic is milled from a solid block, so it holds up to normal chewing on back teeth. Grinding and chewing hard objects are what tend to shorten a crown's life.

Will a CEREC crown match my other teeth?

Yes. The ceramic is tooth colored and the shade is selected to sit alongside your natural enamel, so the finished crown blends in rather than standing out. Because it is designed on screen from a scan of your own bite, the shape follows the tooth it is replacing.

What can CEREC be used for besides crowns?

Alongside crowns, the same scan and mill workflow produces inlays, onlays, and veneers, so several kinds of restoration can be finished in one sitting. A short evaluation at our New Haven office determines whether your tooth suits a same visit restoration or is better handled another way.
